What is an automatic door opener?
An automatic door opener is an electronic component in an access control system that unlocks and physically opens and closes a door so that entrants do not have to do it manually.
Automatic door openers operate with credentials, such as:
FOB
remote control
key card
Enter the PIN code for the keyboard
Smartphone/Mobile Application
Identification sticker on car
Automatic door openers are available for all sizes of gated properties. For example, you can install remote door openers on smaller doors designed for pedestrians. Alternatively, your property may house a large number of cars and therefore require an electric door opener in the driveway.
Regardless, an automatic door opener will save your tenants time and effort.

Doors with automatic openers consist of three components:
Credential Reader. Tenants present credentials to access readers to verify their identity.
control panel. The control panel is the central hub of the automatic door. When a credential reader scans a tenant's credentials, the dashboard validates the data. It then instructs the door's motor to move.
door motor. Doors with automatic openers require a motor to physically slide or swing the door open. These automatic door motors start to open and close the door after receiving a signal from the control panel.
How does an automatic door opener work?
Automatic door openers work by reading a resident's credentials. The control panel then signals the gate motor to start, which uses a gear to swing or slide to open the gate. As a result, the gate can be opened without the need for the tenant to open it in person.
There are two main types of doors:
sliding door. The sliding door moves left and right along the track. If it's electric, add a pinion to the door's track to automate the process.
Swing door. Swing doors swing outward or inward, just like a door. However, gates usually swing inward so they don't hit vehicles or pedestrians as they enter.
You have a few options when it comes to electric automatic swing door openers. You can install a swivel arm that pushes and pulls your gate mechanically. Alternatively, you can install a less obvious underground motor. Underground motors are more expensive, but you may find them more aesthetically pleasing.

How is the electric door powered?
You can choose from a variety of power sources for your automatic door opener. Solar power, batteries and electronic systems are all popular options. You can choose one power source over another based on your property's needs, budget, and layout.
E.g:
If you want to save money, you can install a solar door opener. That way, you'll reduce your property's electricity bills—and you'll be fighting climate change at the same time you fight it. Just remember to install a spare battery in case you need it!
3 Best Automatic Door Opening Systems
The type of automatic door opening system you should choose depends on your property's needs and your desired method of access credentials. Automatic door openers use various credential systems to authenticate tenants. But most importantly, you know your property best and only you can choose the best option for your gated community.
